Tourists Win in Glorious Fashion, 1-0
|
In a tight tilt between the Asheville Tourists and the Lakewood BlueClaws, Calvin Knapp was the difference-maker. The Asheville right-hander excelled in his team's 1-0 win in 11 innings. Kenny Mitchell got credit for the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With the win, the Tourists have a record of 22-16.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Asheville first baseman Johnny Swider, facing Carmén Matos, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Tourists the 1-0 win.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Lakewood manager Ben Schiappa. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
