3-2 Loss to Braves Extends Greenville Losing Streak
|
The Rome Braves had to overcome a good performance from Greenville pitcher Sully Daniels to claim a 3-2 win at Fluor Field at the West End. Daniels went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Ricky Fernández, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Greenville is in the throes of a 17-game skid.
In the top of the seventh, Ron Witwicki had a big bases-clearing triple off Alex Frandsen. With the triple, the Rome shortstop put his team in front, 3-2. He was 1 for 5 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs in the contest.
"I've never been a good loser," admitted losing manager Tim Fox, before walking out on reporters.
