The Lakewood BlueClaws topped the Rome Braves, 7-0, in South Atlantic League action at State Mutual Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Lakewood pitcher Edward Gillem. Gillem got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 hit and walked 1 over 5 innings. Gillem allowed no runs. The BlueClaws now have a record of 21-33 with the win over Rome.
Merlin Muramoto, the 24-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Muramoto contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Lakewood up, 1-0.
