Braves Turn Back Lakewood, 2-1
|
Rome Braves starter Vinny Canessa turned in a sterling performance against the Lakewood BlueClaws, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Apolo Terrero snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 5-3 on the season. Orson Zimmer was credited with the save for Rome, his 17th of the season.
Rome took a 2-1 lead on Teagan Dunn's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Dunn hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Lakewood pitcher Bryson Miller visibly frustrated.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Dunn.
At 30-25, the Braves are currently third in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.
