Shorebirds Score 8-0 Win Against Columbia
|
Delmarva Shorebirds starter Don Kjaerluff had all his pitches working at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-0 Delmarva win over the Columbia Fireflies. The winning pitcher was Kjaerluff, now 5-4. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The Shorebirds' win now puts them at 34-20.
The Shorebirds got an important contribution from first baseman Jean Cloutier, who in the bottom of the seventh hit a 2-0 fastball into right for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Shorebirds ahead, 7-0.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Kjaerluff.
