The Lexington Legends trumped the Savannah Bananas, 4-2, at Ballpark of Savannah. Lexington third baseman Gabriel Vargas was terrific. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Lexington reliever Kelvin Witherby picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Avery Dionne absorbed the loss. The win gives the Legends a record of 15-40.

Skip Van Dusen, the 22-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Van Dusen contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth inning to put Lexington up, 2-0.

In comments to the Lexington Citizen, Vargas admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
