Tight Tilt Goes to RiverDogs, 2-1
|
The Charleston RiverDogs did just enough to sneak past the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 2-1, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Charleston pitcher Nathan Gitchell, in particular, had a standout performance. Gitchell got the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Gitchell allowed 1 run. Omar Domínguez was credited with the save for Charleston, his 4th of the season.
Had Wyatt Kahler not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Kahler hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the RiverDogs.
"It was a good effort all around," said Gitchell.
With the win, Charleston upped its record to 28-26.
