The Columbus Catfish topped the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 5-1, in South Atlantic League action at Progressive Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Columbus pitcher Warren Sutton. Joshua Griep earned save number 1 this season. The Catfish, at 25-34, sit in 7th place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.
Jackson Fitze, who is tied for 7th in the SAL with a .352 batting average, aided the Columbus cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2.
"Warren throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Columbus manager Francisco Avalos.
