Bowling Green Beats Lakewood, 5-4
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods topped the Lakewood BlueClaws, 5-4, in South Atlantic League action at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Bowling Green pitcher Pablo Juarez. Juarez, now 5-5, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Zeke Brooks recorded his 9th save for Bowling Green.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Hot Rods grabbed the lead when Oliver Perry rapped a two-out single. Bowling Green was trailing 3-2, when Perry hit a 2-run single off Grayson Gettman to put his team in front, 4-3.
"Pablo gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Bowling Green skipper Scott Meissner.
The third-place BlueClaws have dropped 5 straight games.
