The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Rome Braves, 4-2, in South Atlantic League action at L.P. Frans Stadium. Hickory pitcher Jim Kingston had a standout performance. Kingston picked up the win for Hickory, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. Michael Schaeffer nailed down his 4th save.

The Crawdads got a big at-bat from catcher Jesse Armstrong. For the game, Armstrong went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Hickory a 3-0 lead.

"All my pitches were working," said Kingston. "They were all synchronized together in attacking the zone."

With the win over Rome, the Crawdads improved to 30-34.
