The Charleston RiverDogs beat the Asheville Tourists, 7-6, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Charleston first baseman Clay Carmona banged out 3 singles and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Tim Van Ert, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Charleston is now 27-34.
Dean Shaw, who is tied for 7th in the SAL in doubles with 15, helped out the Charleston cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
