Toma 5-for-6 Against Lexington
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Tristan Toma, it came around today.
The 23-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over McCormick Field to pace the 14-7 Asheville Tourists victory over the Lexington Legends.
Lexington skipper Jonathan Barfield told reporters in the press room that "Toma deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Toma hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Tristan Toma singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
This year, Toma is batting .251 with 58 hits, 3 home runs, 19 RBIs, 10 walks, .288 OBP and has scored 25 runs.
