Braves Collect 2-1 Win Over RiverDogs
|
Charleston wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Nathan Gitchell, falling to the Rome Braves, 2-1. Gitchell threw 8.0 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. Rome is 4th in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division with a record of 36-34.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 16th inning, when Rome right fielder Solomon Vitucci, facing Dante Baca, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Braves the 2-1 win.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Vitucci.
