Shorebirds Win, 4-2, Extend Streak to 5 Games
|
Chauncey Briggs had a good game, but he could not keep the Savannah Bananas from falling, 4-2, to the Delmarva Shorebirds at Ballpark of Savannah. The Savannah third baseman went 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs in the loss. Don Kjaerluff, the winning pitcher, is now 7-5. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 0 and walking 4. The second-place Shorebirds have won 5 in a row.
Delmarva relied on the bat of Silverio Toro to get the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Shorebirds ahead, 4-2. For the game, Toro had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Toro.
