Braves Pull Off Thrilling 5-4 Win in Extras
|
The Rome Braves racked up a win at State Mutual Stadium, bumping off the Savannah Bananas, 5-4. Ace Hoffman, who started for Rome, pitched effectively for his team. Reliever Apolo Terrero picked up the win. His record improves to 6-3. Dymas Howard took the loss. The Braves, at 40-37, sit in 4th place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.
Rome won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Dymas Howard on the mound for Savannah, left fielder Nigel Singh hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Braves fans to their feet.
"On the outside I was calm," said Braves manager Jake Lappin. "But inside I was a nervous wreck."
