Spirited fans greeted the Savannah Bananas for their clash with the Lakewood BlueClaws.
Lakewood right-hander Danny Nelson pitched his team to victory over the Savannah Bananas at Ballpark of Savannah. The final score was 6-4. Nelson, now 7-5, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run.
Rhet Pomeroy, the 24-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Pomeroy contributed a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put Lakewood up, 4-0.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Pomeroy told the Lakewood Chronicle.
The BlueClaws move to 37-45 with the win, while the Bananas drop to 39-43.
