Fireflies Trump Hot Rods, 4-1
|
The Columbia Fireflies locked up a win at Bowling Green Ballpark, knocking off the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 4-1. On the mound for Columbia was right-hander Jared Devereaux. He played a major role in the triumph. The third-place Fireflies now have a win-loss record of 48-37.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jordan Nichols? The Columbia left fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Fireflies on top, 1-0. For the game, Nichols had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Bowling Green skipper Jesus Sánchez, "and it cost us."
