GreenJackets Earn 4-3 Road Win Over Lexington
|
The Augusta GreenJackets topped the Lexington Legends, 4-3, with youngster Brody Long playing a key role. Long went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the GreenJackets in the win. Augusta reliever Kendrick Thomas picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Melvin Sandoval was saddled with the loss. Andy Sharpe earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
It could have been a different outcome for Augusta, had it not been for Jim Porter, the 22-year old first baseman . Porter contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Augusta up, 4-3.
"Sometimes, you can be too aggressive," said Lexington manager Aiden Garbers. "You need to let the game come to you."
Augusta is now 53-35.
