Fireflies Get Thrilling 7-6 Win
The Columbia Fireflies did just enough to secure a victory over the Savannah Bananas, 7-6, in 10 innings at Ballpark of Savannah. Nobody did more than pitcher Mark Jones. Nicolás Alou, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-4. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Samuel Goodnight wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Liam Brydson was at the plate when Columbia scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Fireflies to go in front, 7-6.

"Mark went out and did what we needed," said Columbia manager Gunner Litherland.

With the victory, the Fireflies record stands at 52-39.
