Tourists Bump Off Drive, 2-0
|
Asheville turned a good effort from starter Bill Hancock into a win over the Greenville Drive at McCormick Field. The final score was 2-0. The winning pitcher was Hancock, now 4-7. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Ross Allen got the save, the 24th for him this season.
Asheville third baseman Hudson Wagner contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Tourists ahead, 1-0.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Wagner.
