Shorebirds Stick Fireflies with 7-2 Loss
Francis Gray did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Columbia Fireflies from being beaten, 7-2, to the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Gray was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Benton Quinteros was the winner. He's now 9-6. The loser was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jake Mancini. The Shorebirds improved their record to 57-36 by beating Columbia.

Delmarva catcher Jimmy Louy contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 36th hit of the season and put the Shorebirds ahead, 2-0.

"Solid game, solid win tonight," said a smiling Louy.
