Losing Streak Continues for Suns with 5-2 Loss to Bananas
|
Savannah pitcher Victor Velazquez did his part in helping his team beat the Hagerstown Suns, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Velazquez got the win, improving to 12-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 4 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Bananas are now 62-32, while the Suns fall to 33-61.
Javy Santiago, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in doubles with 19, helped out the Savannah cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder was 3-5 with 3 singles.
"We're learning some lessons in the school of hard knocks," philosophized losing manager Jackson Anthony.
