Oilers Top Black Bears, 5-4
|
Dutchess Stadium was the site of the home opener for the West Virginia Black Bears. The contest featured a prime matchup between Benjamin Wolff of the visiting Oil City Oilers and Elijah Craig of the Black Bears. The final score was 5-4, the Oilers getting the win. James Valdivia turned in the best performance. The winner in relief was Alex Bruning. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.
Lukas Morton, the 22-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Morton contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Oil City up, 5-4.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Valdivia said.
