Gremlins Zip Past Ironbirds, 8-2
|
The Youngstown Gremlins began the 2052 season with a convincing 8-2 win over the Aberdeen Ironbirds at Eastwood Field. Most impressive was Youngstown second baseman Tony Castillo, who was 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
With Youngstown leading 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Castillo came up to bat against Aberdeen pitcher Jamaal Drummond. Castillo hit a fastball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Gremlins on top, 8-1.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Castillo after the game.
