Wet weather did not postpone the State College-Auburn ballgame.

State College beat Auburn on the strength of starting pitcher Chance Moorhead Jr.'s fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Moorhead Jr. picked up the win for State College, going 5.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0.

Walker Matthews had a big grand slam home run for the Spikes in the bottom of the fifth inning. With State College leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Kevin Daugherty and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Spikes ahead, 5-0.

Matthews called the win "a team effort."

The Spikes raised their record to 4-0.
