In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The Red Wings grabbed a win, 8-5, at Ripken Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Aberdeen pitcher Zach Pavlak. Pavlak went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Richard Amico got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Picking up the save was LeMarcus Pippen, his 1st.

Hamilton got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Gerardo Salmaran. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Wings ahead, 8-5. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"I felt good up there," said Salmaran. "I saw the ball well."

The Red Wings, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.
