In a high-scoring game between Vermont and Lowell, catcher Jace Arce was a difference-maker. The 22-year-old helped Vermont grab the 12-9 win. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Lowell falls to 1-3.

Vermont got a knockout punch from Dennis Westfall. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Arce told the Vermont Bulletin. "You win just by scoring more runs."
