Fans of the Stockton Ports who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Stockton win over the visiting Santa Cruz Cruisers, 7-3. Glenn Schenfeld started for the home team against Gustava Hernandez. Weston Belville earned accolades for his performance.

Belville contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Stockton in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-1, Belville took a curveball from Gustava Hernandez and stroked the home run to right. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Ports to leap in front, 5-3.

Belville told a Stockton News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
