Big Day for Rubalcava as Rapids Down Red Wings, 8-7
|
Thanks in large part to second baseman Antonio Rubalcava, the Niagara Falls Rapids beat the Hamilton Red Wings, 8-7. Rubalcava was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Cristian Esquibel, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. Nehemiah Van Heusen closed out the game, earning his 4th save.
In the top of the third, Niagara Falls left fielder Eli Butler had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Butler stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 2-0, Niagara Falls. For the game, he was 2-4 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch.
"I feel like we're rolling now," Rubalcava told the Niagara Falls Bulletin."The dugout is coming alive."
Niagara Falls is now 6-0.
