Pippins Stick Muckdogs with 7-1 Loss
|
The Yakima Valley Pippins got a stellar performance from pitcher Alex Boyce, who handcuffed the Batavia offense en route to a win, 7-1, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The winning pitcher was Boyce, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. With the win, Yakima Valley lifts its record to 2-2.
The Pippins took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Richard Rafael banged a two-out single. Yakima Valley had been trailing 1-0, but Rafael hit a 0-2 fastball from Lavaughn Newby for a 2-run single.
Boyce called the win "a team effort."
