Gremlins Beat Red Wings, 3-2, at Eastwood Field
The Youngstown Gremlins beat the Hamilton Red Wings, 3-2. Youngstown pitcher and Eagan, Minnesota, native Rick Benfer led the way. Youngstown reliever Norm Mentgen snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sawyer Phillips shouldered the loss. With the win, Youngstown is 2-9.

Youngstown first baseman Jerry Rian contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a circle change to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 4th hit of the season and put the Gremlins ahead, 2-0.

Rian attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
