Lowell Gets Another L, 8-1
|
Niagara Falls took on Lowell in front of a lively crowd.
The Niagara Falls Rapids topped the Lowell Spinners, 8-1, in New York-Penn League action at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Niagara Falls pitcher Nicola Fontana. Fontana got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Fontana allowed 1 run.
The Rapids grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth. With two out, Cole Clovis hit a grand slam home run off Tommy Lowe, putting Niagara Falls in front, 8-0. For Clovis, it was his 1st home run of the season.
"We gave it the old college try," said Lowell manager Danny Inglis. "But the old college try wasn't good enough."
Niagara Falls is now 4-4.
