Black Bears Spill Red Wings, 3-1
|
The West Virginia Black Bears banked on Hunter Geiger and he turned in a masterful performance. The left-hander kept the Hamilton hitters in check. The final score was 3-1, Black Bears. In 6.1 innings, Geiger surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. With the victory, the Black Bears record stands at 12-5.
Jon Bryant, who is tied for 8th in the NYP in doubles with 4, had a direct impact on the outcome. Bryant contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put West Virginia up, 1-0.
In comments to the West Virginia Gazette, Bryant admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
