Spikes Deal Rapids 13-5 Defeat
|
The State College Spikes beat the Niagara Falls Rapids, 13-5. State College pitcher and East St. Louis, Illinois, native Vic Thompson led the way. Thompson went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. Lovell Beeson collected his 2nd save.
The Spikes benefited from a costly error in the top of the first. With Heiker De La Cruz at bat and State College leading 2-0, the Niagara Falls miscue allowed State College to plate 1 and take the lead, 3-0.
"I like our mindset right now," said State College manager Jason Baez.
The loss drops the Rapids to 4-5.
