ValleyCats Come Back Late to Top Pizza Rats, 7-5
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats overcame a good performance by Staten Island right fielder Cy Watt to knock off Staten Island, 7-5, at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Watt went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win gives Tri-City a record of 5-5.
Tri-City used the timely hitting of Wayde Romulus to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the ValleyCats on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Romulus told the Tri-City Bulletin: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
