Spikes Defeated, 3-1, After Niagara Falls Rallies
|
The State College Spikes got a sterling performance from pitcher Fadil Paterson, but the Niagara Falls Rapids still prevailed, 3-1. Paterson threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The Rapids improved their record to 11-9 by beating State College.
Niagara Falls needed the clutch hitting of Chuck Pino to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rapids on top, 3-0. For the game, Pino had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped State College manager Bobby Spencer. "Obviously."
