The State College Spikes beat the Tri-City Dust Devils, 4-1, at Gesa Stadium. State College designated hitter Louis Leland had an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Charles McNatt was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. The win moves State College to a record of 8-3.

Tauro Silva, the 23-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Silva contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put State College up, 2-0.
