Flying Tigers Beat Ironbirds, 5-1
|
Medford pitcher Andy Knight did his part in helping his team beat the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Knight, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Roger Ferguson collected his 2nd save.
Benny Overmiller, the 24-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Overmiller contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Medford up, 1-0.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Overmiller. "Obviously."
The loss drops Aberdeen to 3-8.
