Martin, Black Bears Too Much for Jammers
|
The West Virginia Black Bears handed the Jamestown Jammers a loss at Jammers Ballpark. The final score was 7-4. Algernon Martin made the highlight reel for West Virginia. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 2. He also added 2 bases on balls. West Virginia reliever Clay Morelock picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Palbán Valenzuela took the loss. West Virginia occupies second place in the New York-Penn League South Division at 17-6.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Greg Torvill? The West Virginia first baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Black Bears on top, 4-3. For the game, Torvill had 2 doubles and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It feels good to get this one," Torvill told the West Virginia Herald.
