Connecticut Topples Oil City, 5-2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 21-year old second baseman Grayson Bartolomeo, the Connecticut Tigers stopped the Oil City Oilers, 5-2, in 9 innings. Freddy Rios picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Johnnie Oesterle suffered the loss. Connecticut, at 9-14, sits in 8th place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Left Fielder Hywel Benjamin made an impact for Connecticut, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Johnnie Oesterle in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Benjamin went 2-4 with 2 doubles.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Benjamin.
