Spinners Top Red Wings in Extras, 6-5
|
The Lowell Spinners outlasted the Hamilton Red Wings, 6-5, in 10 innings. Lowell center fielder Layton Richardson stood out with his performance. He was 6-6 with 2 home runs and 4 singles, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2. Lowell reliever Isaac Cole picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Raymond Piper was saddled with the loss. Brandon Webster picked up his 2nd save of the season.
Richardson had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a full count fastball from Raymond Piper, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Spinners a 6-5 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Richardson.
"We earned that one," said Richardson.
Their 10-15 record puts the Spinners 7th in the New York-Penn League North Division.
