West Virginia Slaps 2-0 Loss on Brooklyn
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Dutchess Stadium. But 21-year old shortstop Fabian Aquino produced just enough offense to carry the Black Bears past the Brooklyn Cyclones, 2-0. Aquino was 2-4 with a home run. West Virginia reliever R.J. Lewis picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mário Arias was saddled with the loss. The Black Bears, at 18-12, sit in third place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Early in the game, Aquino had a solo home run for West Virginia. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Black Bears on top, 1-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said West Virginia manager Jesus Sánchez.
