Volcanoes Rally to Tally 5-2 Win
|
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Everett AquaSox, 5-2, in Northwest League action at Everett Memorial Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Salem-Keizer pitcher Seth Childs. Childs, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk. Salem-Keizer goes to 9-5 with the win.
Salem-Keizer used the timely hitting of Roldan Chaves to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Volcanoes on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Chaves told a Salem-Keizer Gazette reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
