Dust Devils Beat Emeralds, 6-5
|
The Tri-City Dust Devils beat the Eugene Emeralds, 6-5, in part because of first baseman Tommy Oxner. He was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. The winner was Tri-City reliever Elijah Beckham, now 1-0. The loser was Kelsey Langworthy. Lincoln Margaritescu earned the save for Tri-City, his 3rd of the year.
Had Salvador Romero not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Romero hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Dust Devils.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Romero said.
The win moves Tri-City to a record of 7-6.
