In a tension-filled contest between the Youngstown Gremlins and the State College Spikes, pitcher Oliver Tucker was superb. The Youngstown right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the NYP in wins with 4, spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Tucker, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 4 walks. Anderson Grillo closed the door for Youngstown, picking up his 10th save of the year.
Landon Machala helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 1-0, Gremlins.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Machala told the Youngstown Chronicle.
The Gremlins, at 21-9, sit in second place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
