Youngstown Gremlins starter Oliver Latimer was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Gold Beach Sea Unicorns, 5-4. The winner was Youngstown reliever Julius Major, now 1-0. The loser was Cash Robtoy. The Sea Unicorns, now 3-11, continue their sluggish start.

A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when right fielder Jacques Kwon hit a sacrifice fly. The Gremlins went on to win.

"If we keep winning the close games," Latimer said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
