Fans watched the Brooklyn Cyclones and the Niagara Falls Rapids fight to the finish.

Brooklyn beat Niagara Falls at MCU Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to center fielder Bill Trotman. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Martin Valadez, the winner, is now 1-0. He struck out 3 and walked 3 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 2 hits. The save was credited to Vic Roberts, his 5th.

Catcher Garrick Shanklin made an impact for Brooklyn, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Hendrix Marth in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Shanklin was 1 for 3 with a double.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Brooklyn manager Trent McPherson.

Brooklyn currently is in second place in the New York-Penn League South Division at 15-14.
