Sea Unicorns Drop Ironbirds, 8-6
|
The Gold Beach Sea Unicorns outlasted Landen Lee and the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 8-6. Lee was impressive in the loss. The Aberdeen second baseman went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Gold Beach reliever Augie Danson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Zach Pavlak absorbed the loss. Earning his 3rd save for Gold Beach was P.J. Young.
Gold Beach center fielder Orson Moore contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Sea Unicorns ahead, 8-6.
Moore said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
Gold Beach is now 4-11, Aberdeen 7-9.
