Spinners Take Tight Tilt
|
In a low-scoring clash between Lowell and Jamestown, pitcher William Gerken was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 2-1 Spinners win. Gerken got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 8 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Lowell is now 13-18.
Lowell used a clutch at-bat from Tim Bouchard to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Spinners ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Bouchard said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
