State College Rallies to 4-3 Win
|
State College played host to Youngstown at Bowman Field.
The State College Spikes topped the Youngstown Gremlins, 4-3, in 13 innings at Bowman Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of State College pitcher Woodrow Ballard. State College pitcher Jack Hayes got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dylan Starnes got the loss.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 13th, 22-year old first baseman Loïc Brunet had a chance to be the hero. Youngstown pitcher Dylan Starnes wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Brunet drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Spikes had themselves a thrilling win.
"It was a test of wills," said Ben Osborne, the State College skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
State College now sits at 17-16, while Youngstown falls to 13-20.
